Amenra, Boris & ARRM

A finales de febrero se presentaba la ocasión de asistir a un evento dentro de los múltiples géneros que abarcan los grupos que conformaban el cartel. Con una noche gélida con temperaturas por debajo de los 10 grados bajo cero, la espera en la cola nos llevo un rato mas largo de lo deseable pero los controles de seguridad así lo exigen en la actualidad.

At the end of February I have the chance to attend an event that compile a lot of genres within the bands that join the lineup. With a cold night with temperatures around 10 degrees below zero, waiting in the queue took us a while longer than is desirable, but security controls demand it now and it’s fair to do so.

Como comienzo de la velada, era el momento de ARRM con una propuesta instrumental que nos acerca a los pasajes tranquilos y esotéricos de Amenra en su versión acústica pero con un matiz eléctrica .

As the beginning of the evening, it was time for ARRM with an instrumental proposal that brings us closer to the quiet and esoteric passages of Amenra in their acoustic version but with an electric nuance.

Con el grupo sentado mientras toca sus temas lo que aporta una armonía adicional a su música, todo el concierto de ARRM culmina con un trance instrumental de su tema Horseback al que dan un barniz de jam en la que la batería cobra un papel fundamental para llegar a alcanzar un climax a lo largo del mismo. Una buena manera de empezar la jornada musical.

With the band seated while playing their songs which brings an additional harmony to their music, the entire ARRM concert culminates with an instrumental trance of its Horseback song which gives kind of jam in which the drums conducted a fundamental role to reach the climax throughout it. A good way to start the evening.

Como siempre, hay que llegar al principio de los conciertos porque los grupos teloneros suelen ofrecer conciertos de mucha calidad ( al menos así suele ser en Polonia)

As always, I suggested to arrive at the beginning of the concerts because the support bands usually offer high quality concerts worth your time.

A continuación era el momento de Boris que con una larga carrera plagada de colaboraciones y de multitud de álbumes y de Ep´s se centraban en esta ocasión en la música de su ultimo LP «Dear».

Then it was the moment for Boris that with a long career full of collaborations and a multitude of albums and Ep’s focused on this occasion their concert of the last LP «Dear».

La visión hipnótica de esta banda ya me dejo una increíble impresión tras su visita en el OFF Festival y no di crédito cuando pude confirmar que la visita de Boris se repetiría en esta ocasión pero en la Sala Progresja de Varsovia.

The hypnotic vision of this band already left me an incredible impression after its visit to the OFF Festival I’m 2017 and I didn’t believe that only few months later I will be able to see them another time. In that case, of course, i have to repeat the experience in the Sala Progresja of Warsaw.

Y en esta ocasión, con un sonido brutal, decidieron arrasar Varsovia (sónicamente, por supuesto). 75 minutos de drone, doom, rock y todos los géneros que podáis imaginar. Con un bajo de doble mástil, guitarras que se sustituyen por acordeón llegado el momento , batería y un gong para completar nos arrasaron.

And on this occasion, with a brutal sound, they decided to raze Warsaw (sonically, of course). 75 minutes of drone, doom, rock and all the genres that you can imagine. With a double bass neck, guitars that are replaced by accordion when the time came, drums and a gong to complete they took no prisoners.

To all this, some foggy overdose in some moments like their colleagues Sunn O))) help them to complete the evening.

Para mí, otra de las bandas japonesas dignas de ver siempre que tenga ocasión.

For me, another of the Japanese bands worth seeing whenever you have occasion.

La ultima banda que completaba el concierto fueron los belgas Amenra. En este formato en el que las dos ultimas bandas comparten el papel de cabezas de cartel, otros cerca de 75 minutos nos aguardaban.

The last band that completed the concert were the Belgians Amenra. In this format in which the last two bands share the role of headliners, so about 75 minutes awaited us.

En otras ocasiones no había podido contemplar su espectáculo con las debidas comodidades para poder apreciar todos los matices que transmiten en su música.

At other times I didn’t manage to attend to their show with the proper conditions to appreciate all the atmospheres that they transmit in their music.

En esta ocasión, lo hacia con un concierto de su versión eléctrica (hace un tiempo tuve la ocasión de verlos en su versión acústica con una experiencia en el polo opuesto del espectro musical , relajada y calmada).

On this occasion, they perform a concert with their electric version (some time ago I had the chance to see them in their acoustic version with an experience completely opposite pole of the musical spectrum, relaxed and calm) that complete the raw and undoubted intense electric version. 

Repasando temas de sus diversos álbumes, con mas énfasis en su ultimo LP Mass VI y los demás temas extraídos de Mass III, Mass IIII y Mass V debo decir que me dejaron anonadado por la potencia de su descarga.

Reviewing songs from some of their albums, with more emphasis on their latest LP Mass VI and the other songs taken from Mass III, Mass IIII and Mass V I must say that they left me stunned by the energy of their performance. The perfect definition was “Fucking Intense” (sorry about coursing but I felt it that way).

A todo ello ayudo la excelente acústica de la sala Progresja asi como las proyecciones y la iluminación del escenario, que pese a dificultar la toma de fotografías, aportaba un extra especial a la experiencia del concierto.

To all this I help the excellent acoustic of the Progresja club as well as the projections and the stage lighting which, despite making it difficult to take photographs, provided a worth extra ingredient to the atmosphere for their music and to concert experience.

Tanto Boris como Amenra no defraudaron y pudimos ver un concierto sobresaliente completado por los polacos ARRM podemos considerar como muy fructífera la velada.

Both Boris and Amenra didn’t disappoint and we could see an outstanding concert completed by the very talented ARRM, so we can consider the evening as very pleasant.

No quiero despedirme sin agradecer a Knock Out Productions que sigan apostando por traer bandas que no siempre resulta fácil ver en directo.

I don’t want to finish without thanking Knock Out Productions to keep betting on these kind of bands not always easy to see live.
