Mayhem en Varsovia / Mayhem in Warsaw

Con el final de octubre llegaba la ocasión de presenciar en directo el concierto de Mayhem que en las navidades pasadas estuvo tocando en Varsovia.

With the end of October I had the chance to witness the concert f Mayhem that not long ago was playing in Warsaw.

En esta ocasión, se presentaban otros grupos con ellos dentro de una gira mas extensa rememorando su disco mas celebre De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas

This time some very interesting bands joined them on a longer tour supporting their most famous album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas as main spectacle of the event. 

Comenzaron a las 17:30 Thunderwar con un concierto corto pero muy técnico y directo. Me dejo muy gratamente sorprendido y confirmo que en este tipo de conciertos tanto merecen la pena los teloneros como los grupos principales.

The evening started at 17:30 and it was time for Thunderwar with a short but very technical and direct concert. I was very pleasantly surprised and confirmed me that in this type of concerts both support bands as main bands are worth your attention or you presence.

Tras ellos, turno para Centurion con una propuesta mas directa aunque se vio a la banda mucho mas suelta que los anteriores. Probablemente el incremento d publico les dio otros ánimos.

After them, Centurion’s time with a more direct proposal although the band was much looser than the previous one. Probably the public increase gave them other encouragement. Solid and straight concert.

Era entonces momento de Deus Mortem, una propuesta que apuntaba por mayores influencias del Black Metal en su música pero que no me llego como lo hicieron las 2 anteriores bandas.

It was then moment of Deus Mortem, a proposal more  focus on Black Metal and with more support by the audience but their show didn’t catch me like the previous 2 bands had done.

Llegaba el momento del primer grupo extranjero que no fue otro que Dragged Into Sunlight que me dejaron absolutamente estupefacto con su brutal propuesta.

It was time for the first foreign group that was none other than Dragged Into Sunlight. They left me absolutely stunned by their brutal proposal.

Seguramente uno de los conciertos que recordare como de los mas brutales que he presenciado en lo referente al nivel de agresión sonora así como a la radicalidad de la propuesta.

Surely one concerts to be remember as one of the most brutal that I have witnessed regarding the level of sound aggression as well as the visual proposal.

No dejaron títere con cabeza y su concierto me encanto. Probablemente no sea capaz de oír sus discos de un tirón pero en directo me convencieron.

They want on stage with a “take no prisoners” attitude and their concert delighted me. I probably won’t be able to hear their discs full circle but their live performance convinced me.

Era el momento de los holandeses Asphyx con su mezcla de death metal y doom. Se les vio disfrutar en el escenario y la misma sensación me dio el publico. Aparecieron los pogos y las melenas se agitaban al compas de los riffs del grupo.

It was the time of the Dutch Asphyx with their mix of death metal and doom. They were seen enjoying the stage and the same feeling the audience gave me. Time to the pogos and the hairs rushing violently with the rhythm of their doomy riffs.

Un muy buen aperitivo de una hora de duración que nos preparaba para la descarga de Mayhem.

A very good appetizer that for an hour prepared us for the discharge of Mayhem.

Con unos 10 de minutos de adelanto y con un aviso pidiendo que se prescindiese del uso de los teléfonos móviles durante el concierto, comenzaba el concierto de Mayhem. 

With about 10 minutes of advance and with a speaker notice requesting to avoid the use of the mobile phones during the concert, the show of Mayhem began.

Un puesta en escena mas sobria que el ultimo año pero el mismo estilo con túnicas y capuchas compartiendo con Sunn O))))) no solo cantante.

A more sober staging than past year but the same style with tunics and hoods showing that they share with Sunn O))))) not only singer.

Como en la vez anterior, lo que mas me llamo la atención fue la actuación de Hellhammer a la batería que empuja desde su enorme kit a toda la banda y por supuesto, Attila Cishar a las voces.

As in the previous time, what caught my attention was the performance of Hellhammer on drums who pushes from his huge kit the whole band and of course Attila Cishar ton vocals (or we must say spectral voices).

En otras ocasiones que he visto a Mayhem no han llegado a convencerme pero las 2 veces que les he visto tocando el De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas  debo decir que el disco en directo parte la pana.

On other occasions I had seen Mayhem before they hadn’t convinced me but the 2 times I have seen playing the De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas I must say that this record live kick asses.

No siendo un seguidor del black metal mas furibundo reconozco que la atmósfera del disco me gusta y especialmente su paso al directo.

Not being a follower of the more furious black metal I must admit that I liked the climate of this album and specially the live performance.

Puede plantearse discusiones acerca de la necesidad de toda la teatralidad en directo pero, a mi entender, es parte del atractivo y la motivación del concierto. 

Discussions can be made about the need for all the theatricality of the live performance but, to my understanding, it’s part of the attraction and motivation of the concert.

Así que no queda mas que agradecer a Knock Out Productions que nos hayan traído de nuevo un concierto tan completo como en esta ocasión.

So it is only time thanks to Knock Out Productions that we have brought again a concert as rounded as this time.
