Entrevista con Artur Ruminski<\/span><\/p>\n

Con ocasi\u00f3n del Red Smoke Festival tuve ocasi\u00f3n de compartir unos minutos con Artur Ruminski, guitarrista de varios grupos de distintos estilos de Polonia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Estas son las impresiones que intercambiamos.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: En estos momentos est\u00e1n tocando con varios grupos en los cuales compones parte de la m\u00fasica o bien solo tocas la guitarra (como es el caso de Furia) pero para ello es necesario sacar la energ\u00eda. \u00bfComo lo gestionas, como sacas tiempo, dif\u00edcil no? De donde la inspiraci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Muy dif\u00edcil. Todo el tiempo busco m\u00fasica, por distintos caminos y cada cierto tiempo se cambia los estilos que me interesan. Incluso en 2 meses paso del Kraut Rock a algo m\u00e1s hippy, algo de metal, death metal, se recoge, coges la guitarra y a tocar.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: De todos los grupos en los que tocas, cuales es el en el que has conseguido m\u00e1s \u00e9xito o algo que. O te esperabas conseguir. Con Mentor, Thaw, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: En estos momentos el espect\u00e1culo Wesele en el que estamos participando con el grupo Furia en el teatro en Cracovia en una obra que dirige Jan Klata. En este momento creo que es el mayor cosa que hemos realizado y dif\u00edcil ser\u00e1 pensar en otro.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Perdona mi ignorancia pero no estoy muy al tanto en teatro polaco. \u00bfQuien es Jan Klata?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Un conocido director, un poco avantgarde que tiene una aproximaci\u00f3n distinta a las obras, al arte de un modo que intenta hacerlo de un modo m\u00e1s novedoso. Wesele lo lleva a nuestro tiempo y se puede asimilar a todo lo que ocurre ahora en pol\u00edtica tambi\u00e9n.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfHac\u00e9is alguna gira con esta obra?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: No, estamos en Cracovia. Estar\u00edas bien que te acercases.<\/span><\/p>\n

(NDR. Desgraciadamente todas las entradas estaban ya vendidas as\u00ed que no pude acercarme)<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfY has tenido en alg\u00fan momento alguna situaci\u00f3n en la que hayas pensado que ha fallado algo o que no has conseguido lo que esperabas?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: La verdad es que no he tenido esa situaci\u00f3n. No es que cuando comienzo un grupo, toco una par de veces y a tomar una cervezas y con eso se acabo. Cuando comienzo algo tiene que mantenerse.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Alg\u00fan grupo que te sorprendi\u00f3 en vivo, o alguno que fuese algo distinto de lo que normalmente escuchas. Igual un poco dif\u00edcil.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: El mejor concierto que he oido en mi vida fue en el Primavera Sound Festival cuando vi a Sunn O))). Adoro ese grupo, soy s\u00faper fan pero no esperaba que el sonido fuese tan masivo\u00a0 a pesar de ser un festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfY comparado con el concierto en Katowice en el Off Festival?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Tambi\u00e9n fue bueno pero el de Barcelona fue un algo distinto, el entorno.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfQu\u00e9 es lo que m\u00e1s te sorprendi\u00f3 cuando estuvisteis en Espa\u00f1a?, porque se que tocasteis en el Primavera Sound que yo sepa….<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Yo estuve 2 veces porque el a\u00f1o anterior estuve con Furia. Y tambi\u00e9n toqu\u00e9 con Tides From Nebula en Barcelona as\u00ed que he tocado 3 veces all\u00ed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yo solo he estado en\u00a0 Barcelona y en Madrid, porque en Madrid tambi\u00e9n toc\u00e1bamos en la gira . En general, me encanto Barcelona, me enamore de la cuidad y luego fui con mi novia all\u00ed de vacaciones. Para mi es una de las mejores ciudades de Europa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: As\u00ed que en general la ciudad es lo que m\u00e1s te sorprendi\u00f3 de Espa\u00f1a…<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Luego alquilamos unas bicis y la recorrimos.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfY que comida te gusto?, porque se que eres vegano y eso puede condicionar un poco.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: La verdad es que la ciudad es muy tur\u00edstica y siempre se pod\u00eda encontrar una hamburguesa vegana o ese tipo de comida.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfY algo t\u00edpico no probaste?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: No nada as\u00ed que no te puedo decir nada especial.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Pues para la pr\u00f3xima vez te recomend\u00f3 que pruebes las patatas bravas, t\u00edpica comida espa\u00f1ola con patatas fritas y salsa picante de tomate y mahonesa.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Trabajasteis hace poco con Branca Studio que creo que tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 en Barcelona, Como surgi\u00f3 la colaboraci\u00f3n, por internet…<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Nos gustaba su trabajo y contactamos por Facebook. Nos manda una proposici\u00f3n de acuerdo a\u00f1o que propusimos cruces, calaveras y que fuese de la vieja escuela y la primera propuesta nos gust\u00f3. Fue todo muy r\u00e1pido, lo hizo termino muy r\u00e1pido.<\/span><\/p>\n

Artur Ruminski (Thaw) – OFF Festival 2014<\/p><\/div>\n

DR: \u00bfY con Mentor, como fue el proceso?, porque lo primero que lo o\u00ed me ven\u00eda a la cabeza esta Entombed al o\u00edrlo.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Pues raro porque yo m\u00e1s bien me inspire en bandas de punk, en Black Sabbath, en Mot\u00f6rhead. En general, seguramente Entombed tambi\u00e9n partieron de las mismas cosas. Y sali\u00f3 algo parecido, partimos de la misma inspiraci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: En lo referente al equipo que utilizas, \u00bfcuales es con el que m\u00e1s a gusto o m\u00e1s c\u00f3modo te sientes cuando tocas? Seguro que tienes varios.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: En general guitarra Gibson Sg 61 edition, amplificador Sunn o))) model T y columnas Orange.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Quer\u00eda preguntarte si tienes alguna guitarra que sea tu favorita.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Todas son mis favoritas.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: No hay una que digas que ser\u00eda la que te llevar\u00edas a una isla desierta….<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: \u00a0En cada grupo tengo diferentes ajustes en la guitarra, es otra m\u00fasica y cada una encaja con ese grupo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: A<\/span>s\u00ed que no puedes decidirte.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Tengo 5 guitarras para 5 grupos.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Otra pregunta tambi\u00e9n acerca de las guitarras, puede que un poco rara, pero tal vez interesante pensar en eso. \u00bfSi pudieses tener una guitarra que hubiese tocado o usado un guitarrista que pensases, oh, me gustar\u00eda tener esa guitarra?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Claro, la de Tony Iommi de Black Sabbath o la de Jimmy Page de Led Zeppelin.\u00a0<\/span>Solo de esas dos personas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Muy buena elecci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR:\u00a0\u00bf<\/span>Un concierto o festival al que te gustar\u00eda asistir como espectador? Puede que sea tambi\u00e9n en el que te gustar\u00eda tocar, porque tambi\u00e9n te lo voy a preguntar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Led Zeppelin querr\u00eda ver.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfY en uno en el que te gustar\u00eda tocar? Por que en el Primavera ya has tocado….<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: En el Roadburn, por ejemplo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Yo creo que encaj\u00e1is y debierais tocar en el Roadburn.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(Nota: Unos meses mas tarde de esta entrevista, \u00a0Furia y Thaw fueron confirmados como parte del Roadburn Festival 2018 ay en el\u00a0<\/span>d\u00eda<\/span><\/span>\u00a0de hoy\u00a0<\/span>estar\u00e1n<\/span><\/span>\u00a0tocando en el festival).<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: En el Off Festival Oranssi Pazuzu, nos dijeron que ten\u00edamos que tocar en el Roadburn.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Yo cuando vi a Oranssi Pazuzu con el primer \u00e1lbum en el Asymmetry Festival de WROCLAW tambi\u00e9n les dije lo mismo que ten\u00edan que tocar en el Roadburn y con el siguiente disco tocaron.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Soy muy fan de Oranssi Pazuzu.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Una pregunta acerca del concierto que diste en la mina a 320 metros de profundidad. \u00bfComo surgi\u00f3 el tema?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Era el organizador quien nos invit\u00f3 y nosotros aceptamos.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: \u00bfQue tal fue?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Muy bien. La sensaci\u00f3n de estar bajo tierra. Tu mismo estuviste. Luego dimos mucho humo durante el concierto y los sensores de humo de la mina se volvieron locos y poco falt\u00f3 para tener que evacuar al concierto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Relacionado con el humo, \u00bfqu\u00e9 os da el humo en vuestros conciertos? Para mi hay 2 grupos en Polonia que sin el humo no tocan, no son lo mismo. Thaw y Belzebong. \u00bfQu\u00e9 os aporta el humo?<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Es una cortina.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Es un cortina que intenta mostrar que el sonido es lo importante.<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Si, exacto. Nos sentimos mejor, evitamos ese contacto t\u00edpico del rock. La gente no sabe lo que ocurre y solo se concentra en la m\u00fasica.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Un poco como hace Sunn O)))<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Si.<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Una pregunta un poco especial ahora. En Espa\u00f1a hay un m\u00fasico que tocaba en un grupo de metal llamado Bar\u00f3n Rojo que ha declarado que solo debieran dar conciertos pagados los m\u00fasicos profesionales, que ha creado un pol\u00e9mica all\u00ed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Que los no profesionales debieran pagar por tocar y no quitarles el trabajo a los profesionales.\u00a0<\/span>Puede que alguien piense lo mismo en Polonia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: \u00bfSe refiere a gente que tiene un trabajo y que adem\u00e1s toca en un grupo?<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Alguien que trabaja como ingeniero, como conductor, lo que sea y luego el fin de semana toca con los colegas en alg\u00fan sitio por 100 \u20ac o algo as\u00ed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AR: Exactamente as\u00ed suele ser en general.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yo trabaja en contrato por obra en el teatro hasta que empece a dedicarme solo a la m\u00fasica. Pero antes trabajaba 10-12 horas. Luego salir del trabajo para ir al local a ensayar y tal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nunca me he encontrado en esa situaci\u00f3n. Para mi es un sin sentido, alguien gana dinero con eso y tu pagas porque la gente se beba una cerveza en el bar. Eso es robar a la gente. Para mi no tiene ning\u00fan sentido.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Bueno, pues eso es todo por mi parte. Muchas gracias.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Interview with Artur Ruminski<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

During Red Smoke Festival I had the opportunity to share a few minutes with Artur Rumi\u0144ski, guitarist of several bands in Poland.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

These are the impressions that we exchange.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR (Dr. Schreck): At the moment you are playing with several bands in which you compose part of the music or you just play the guitar (as happens with Furia) but for that it\u2019s necessary to get a lot of energy. How do you manage it, how do you get time, isn\u2019t it hard? From which sources you get the inspiration?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR (Artur Rumi\u0144ski): Very difficult. All the time I look for music, in different ways and every so often I change the styles that interest me. Even in 2 months I go from Kraut Rock to something more hippy, some metal, death metal and so until I pick up the guitar and I start to play or to compose.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Of all the bands in which you play, which is the one you consider that have achieved more success or something important?<\/span>Or you expected to get.? With Mentor, Thaw, etc.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: At the moment the Wesele play we are performing with Furia (polish black metal band from Silesia) at Krakow theater in a play directed by Jan Klata. At this moment I think it\u2019s the greatest thing we have done and it will be difficult to think of another similar at that level.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Forgive my ignorance but I’m not very aware of Polish theatre. Who is Jan Klata?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: A well-known director, a little Avantgarde who has a different approach to plays, even to art in a way that tries to arrange <\/span><\/i>it with<\/em> more modern <\/span><\/i>ideas<\/em>. Wesele takes the script to our time and it can be assimilated to everything that happens in politics nowadays as well.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Are you performing the play in other cities?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: No, we are just playing in Krakow. I think it would be fine if you manage to be at the play.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: (NOTE: unfortunately the tickets for all plays were already sold out so I couldn\u2019t manage to be there).<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Artur Ruminski (THAW) – Zabrze 2018<\/p><\/div>\n

DR: And have you ever had a situation where you thought something had failed or you didn\u2019t achieve what you expected?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: The truth is that I didn\u2019t meet that situation. When I start a band, it’s not like I play a couple of times just to have a beer and that’s it. When I start something, it has to be for real.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Tell me some band that surprised you with their performance live, or one that was something different from what you normally hear?<\/span>Maybe a bit difficult but worth the question.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: The best concert I’ve heard in my life was at Primavera Sound Festival when I saw Sunn O))). I love that band, I’m a super fan but I didn\u2019t t expect the sound to be so massive despite being a open air festival.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: And compared to the<\/span><\/i>ir <\/em>concert in Katowice at the Off Festival?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: It was also good but Barcelona was a different thing, the environment was especial.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Artur Ruminski (Thaw) – Krakow 2015<\/p><\/div>\n

DR: What surprised you the most when you were in Spain?<\/span>I know you played at Primavera Sound as far as I know.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: I was twice at Primavera because the year before I was with Furia. And I also played with Tides From Nebula in Barcelona so I played there 3 times.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I’ve only been to Barcelona and Madrid, because in Madrid we also played on the Tides From Nebula tour. In general, I loved Barcelona, \u200b\u200bI fell in love with the city and then I went with my girlfriend there on holidays. For me it is one of the best cities in Europe.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: So in general the city is what surprised you most about Spain\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Yes, we also rented some bikes and took a ride through the city.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: And what food do you like?<\/span>because I know you’re vegan and that can be a bit problematic.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: The truth is that the city is very touristy and you could always find a vegan burger or that kind of food.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: And you didn\u2019t try something typical?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Nothing, so I can\u2019t tell you anything more about Spanish food.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: For the next time I recommended you to try patatas bravas, typical Spanish food with potatoes fried in big chops and a spicy tomato sauce mixed with mayonnaise.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Artur Ruminski (MENTOR) – Katowice 2016<\/p><\/div>\n

DR: You recently worked with Branca Studio that I think is also from Barcelona, \u200b\u200bhow the collaboration came about? Online?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: We liked his work and we contacted by Facebook. It sends us a sketch of what we proposed with crosses, skulls and that. The idea was to get an old school look and the first proposal matched all we liked. It was all very fast, it was all really fast made.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR:. And with Mentor, how was the process of creating the music?<\/span>because the first thing it was coming to my mind was Entombed when I hear it.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: That’s strange because I’d rather be inspired by punk bands, Black Sabbath, Mot\u00f6rhead. Probably Entombed also started from the same things. So if the same thing came out, maybe we started from the same inspiration.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: In relation to the equipment you use, <\/span><\/i>with <\/em>which you feel better or more comfortable when you play. For sure you have some.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: I think that with my guitar Gibson Sg 61 edition, the amplifier Sunn <\/span><\/i>O<\/em>))) model T and the columns Orange.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Do you have a guitar that is your favourite?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Are all my\u00a0<\/i><\/span>favorites<\/span><\/i><\/span>.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

DR: Isn\u2019t a guitar that you say would be the one that would take you to a desert island?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: In each band I have different settings on the guitar, it’s another music and each one fits with that band.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: So you can\u2019t decide\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: No, I have 5 guitars for 5 bands\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: <\/span><\/i>A<\/em>nother thing also about the guitars, maybe a bit weird, but maybe interesting to think about that. If you could play a guitar that had played or used a guitarist that you thought or\u00a0<\/span><\/i>kind of \u00ab<\/em>I would like to have that guitar<\/span><\/i>\u00ab<\/em>\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: That\u2019s easy, Tony Iommi’s Black Sabbath or Jimmy Page’s Led Zeppelin.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: All right\u2026.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Only of those two people.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Very good choice.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: And a concert or festival that you would like to attend as a spectator? It may also be where you would like to play, because I am also going to ask you about this\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: I would like to see Led Zeppelin.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: And one that you would like to play? Because in the Primavera Festival you’ve already played…<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: On the Roadburn, for example.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: I think you fit and you should play in the Roadburn. (NOTE: Few months later of this interview, Furia and Thaw were confirmed to take part on Roadburn Festival 2018 and as today they will be playing at the festival).<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: At the Off Festival, Oranssi Pazuzu told us that we should play at the Roadburn.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: I must say that when I saw Oranssi Pazuzu touring their first album at the Asymmetry Festival in Wroclaw I also told them that they had to play in the Roadburn and with the next album they played there.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: I\u2019m a big fan of Oranssi Pazuzu.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: A question about the concert you gave in the mine at 320 meters deep. How you get involve on that concert?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: It was the people who organise the concert who invited us and we accepted.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: How was the experience?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Very well. The feeling of being underground. <\/span><\/i>You were there as well<\/em>. Then we gave a lot of smoke during the concert and the smoke sensors of the mine went crazy and it got close that we had to evacuate the concert from the mine.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Artur Ruminski (Furia) – Gdynia 2017<\/p><\/div>\n

DR: <\/span><\/i>A<\/em>nd related to the smoke, which gives you the smoke in your concerts? For me there are 2 bands in Poland that without the smoke at their performance, they aren\u2019t the same: Thaw and Belzebong. What gives you that smoke?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: It’s a curtain\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Is it a curtain that tries to show that the sound is the important thing?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Yes, exactly. We feel better, we avoid that typical rock contact. People don\u2019t know what happens and they only concentrate on our music.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: A bit like Sunn O))) does\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Exactly.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Now a little special question. In Spain there is a musician who played in a metal band called Baron Rojo who has declared that only professional musicians should have been paid at concerts not amateurs, which has created a controversy there.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

That non-professionals should pay to play and not take the job from professionals.\u00a0<\/span>Could it be that someone thinks the same in Poland?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: That refers to people who have a job and who also play in a band?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DR: Someone who works as an engineer, as a driver, whatever and then during the weekend performs with some friends or colleagues somewhere for 100 Euros or something similar\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

AR: Just like this thing looks in general.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I worked in contract for work in the theater until I started to dedicate myself only to music. But before I worked 10-12 hours. Then leave work to go to the place where we rehearse and so.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I have never found myself in that situation. For me it\u2019s nonsense, someone makes money with that and you pay because people drink a beer at the bar. That is stealing from people. It doesn\u2019t make any sense to me.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
